Role Description

Director – Programs and Advocacy is responsible for overall strategic growth and programmatic excellence for TYPF. Co-evolving and setting direction, vision and strategic priorities, institutionalising programmatic processes, leading and developing a team to deliver on strategic priorities and evangelising the organisation in all external and internal forums are some key responsibilities of this role.

Responsibilities

Vision and Strategic Priorities

  • Set clear direction with a well-articulated and understood vision and mission of the organisation
  • Define strategic priorities along with the Executive Director and the Senior Team to realise the vision
  • Define clear annual plans for the programme teams in line with the strategic priorities

Programmatic excellence

  • Define execution plans for the domains of work at TYPF and grow them by increasing programmes (by bringing in new themes), funding and contributing to public advocacy
  • Raise funds by representing TYPF’s philosophy and programmes in a clear and effective manner with existing and new donors/ funding partners
  • Oversee programme implementation to ensure smooth and high-quality delivery. Institutionalise monitoring, evaluation, learning and communication functions to strengthen the programs
  • Collaborate with functional (research and knowledge, advocacy, capacity building) teams to integrating learnings and expertise into the programmes to increase the effectiveness of the programme
  • Institutionalise systems and processes to strengthen programme planning, implementation and due diligence
  • Anchor key research and scoping for programme development and design and overseeing programme delivery by providing consistent supervision and support to officers
  • Write and develop programme briefs, case studies and research papers to expand and increate visibility of the TYPF’s learning and experience
  • Ensure visibility of programmes and sharing of knowledge and experiences with partners and through strategic inter and intra sectoral platforms.

Organisation Development

  • Co-create and evolve fundraising strategy to secure funding for the next few years. Support the ED in creating alternative funding sources for financial sustainability
  • Ensure smooth and diligent financial management of the programmes and other expense areas as assigned.
  • Co-create people systems and processes that will enable hiring, on-boarding, development and growth opportunities for team members
  • Standardise key organisational processes, SOPs and process flows in the area of programme management to enable smooth functioning of the teams

Developing people 

  • Monitor and supervise programme officers to ensure program outputs and outcomes are met
  • Mentor and coach team members while providing effective guidance and support, especially with regard to advocacy initiatives, policy priorities, and strategic approaches across teams.
  • Recruit, train and supervise programme teams and fellows for specific projects and execution for achieving outcomes.
  • Monitor team performance, goal setting, assigning tasks and responsibilities and leading performance reviews and appraisals for team members.
  • Create an environment of learning, growth and empowerment for young professionals in the organisation

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Expand TYPFs partner base and ensure that the organisation is effectively represented in local, national, regional, and international platforms.
  • Leverage national and international advocacy opportunities for programmes and the organisation as a whole.
  • Work with Communications and other teams to adapt content for advocacy purposes, including assisting with developing op-eds and other media products.
  • Develop and manage partnerships for advocacy and programme implementation.
  • Represent TYPF in strategic networks and coalitions. Take up external speaking, communication activities on behalf of the organisation as a subject expert.
Selection Criteria
  • Experience
    • At least 5-7 years of experience
    • Including 3 years in a leadership role
  •  Education
    • Masters Degree (or equivalent) in any relevant field
  • Languages needed
    • English, Hindi, any other regional language

Salary Range

INR 9,60,000 – 12,00,000 per annum CTC
