Since 2011, The YP Foundation has been meaningfully delivering pleasuring affirming, rights-based and youth centric information through Comprehensive Sexuality Education across geographies of Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Delhi-NCR.
To address the needs and concerns and provide stigma-free and pleasure affirming information on changes during adolescence, TYPF has created an intersectional queer-feminist and pleasure -centric curriculum on Comprehensive Sexuality Education for adolescents aged 14 years and above. This has been successfully implemented with more than 13000 young people from across schools and community settings in diverse geographical locations. Acknowledging the demand for CSE, we are making this curriculum and toolkit available for others who wish to implement or adapt this intervention and approach.
This curriculum brings together the cumulative experience and work of young people who have co-journeyed with us as participants and leaders to translate the vision of youth led access to information and rights on ground. It is built upon the evidence that has been generated and collated by different organizations with extensive experience of working in the field of Comprehensive Sexuality Education with young people. It follows a rights-based and pleasure affirming approach and the overarching principles to Comprehensive Sexuality Education as outlined by the Revised Edition of the ‘International Technical Guidance on Sexuality Education: An evidence-informed approach’ (UNESCO, 2018) and the IPPF Framework for C.S.E. (2010). The content of the C.S.E. curriculum aligns with the age-appropriate content and learning outcomes that are listed down by both UNESCO and IPPF.
It also stands on the shoulders of partner organizations and activists who did pioneering work on sexuality and gender issues as well as youth leadership and rights that we have learnt and drawn from heavily. We also acknowledge the support of our donors and partners who have made this work possible.
In addition to this curriculum, a shorter and simpler curriculum on comprehensive sexuality education has been designed to break the stigmas and taboos and provide pleasure affirming and rights based information to adolescents aged 9-13 years.
साल 2011 से, द वाई.पी. फाउंडेशन राजस्थान, उत्तर प्रदेश, बिहार और दिल्ली-एनसीआर के क्षेत्रों में व्यापक यौनिकता शिक्षा के माध्यम से आनंद को सकारात्मक नज़रिये से देखने के दृष्टिकोण पर आधारित, अधिकार-आधारित और युवा केंद्रित जानकारी प्रदान का काम किया है।
किशोरावस्था के दौरान होने वाले परिवर्तनों पर किशोरों की जरूरतों और चिंताओं से जुड़ी कलंक-मुक्त और आनंद को सकारात्मक नज़रिये से देखने के दृष्टिकोण पर आधारित जानकारी उपलब्ध कराने के लिए द वाई पी फाउंडेशन ने 14 वर्ष और उससे अधिक उम्र के किशोरों के लिए व्यापक यौनिकता शिक्षा पर एक अंतरानुभागिया क्वेइर-नारीवादी पाठ्यक्रम तैयार किया है। विभिन्न क्षेत्रों के स्कूलों और सामुदायिक संदर्भों में 13,000 से अधिक युवाओं के साथ इस पाठ्यक्रम का सफलतापूर्वक संचालन किया गया है। व्यापक यौनिकता शिक्षा की बढ़ती मांग को ध्यान में रखते हुए, हम इस कार्यक्रम को लागू करने में रुचि रखने वाले अन्य लोगों के लिए इस पाठ्यक्रम और टूलकिट को उपलब्ध करा रहे हैं।
यह पाठ्यक्रम उन युवाओं के साझा अनुभव और कार्य पर आधारित है जिन्होंने, युवा-नेतृत्व में जानकारी और अधिकारों तक पहुँच के हमारे दृष्टिकोण को ज़मीनी स्तर पर लागू करने के हमारे इस सफर में प्रतिभागी और मार्गदर्शक के रूप में सह-यात्रियों की भूमिका निभाई है। यह युवा लोगों के साथ व्यापक यौनिकता शिक्षा के क्षेत्र में काम करने के विस्तृत अनुभव रखने वाले विभिन्न संगठनों द्वारा एकत्रित किए गए साक्ष्यों के आधार पर तैयार किया गया है। इसमें अधिकार-आधारित और आनंद को सकारात्मक नज़रिये से देखने के दृष्टिकोण के साथ-साथ व्यापक यौनिकता शिक्षा के केंद्रीय सिद्धांतों को अपनाया गया है, जिनका ‘इंटरनॅशनल टेक्निकल गाइडेन्स ऑन सेक्षुवालिटी एजुकेशन: एन एविडेन्स-इनफॉर्म्ड अप्रोच’ (‘यौनिकता शिक्षा पर अंतर्राष्ट्रीय तकनीकी मार्गदर्शन: एक साक्ष्य-सूचित दृष्टिकोण’) (यूनेस्को, 2018) के संशोधित संस्करण और सी.एस.ई. से संबंधित आईपीपीएफ फ्रेमवर्क (2010) में उल्लेख किया गया है। इस पाठ्यक्रम की सामग्री, यूनेस्को और आईपीपीएफ द्वारा सूचीबद्ध किए गए आयु-उपयुक्त सिद्धांतों और शिक्षण उद्देश्यों के अनुरूप है।
इसमें उन साथी संगठनों और कार्यकर्ताओं का भी महत्वपूर्ण योगदान है जिन्होंने यौनिकता और जेंडर तथा युवा नेतृत्व और अधिकारों के क्षेत्र में पथ-प्रदर्शक की भूमिका निभाई है, और जिनसे हमने बहुत कुछ सीखा है और उसे इस पाठ्यक्रम में शामिल भी किया है। हम अपने आर्थिक समर्थकों (लिंक) के प्रति भी आभार व्यक्त करना चाहते हैं जिन्होंने इस काम को संभव बनाया है।
इस पाठ्यक्रम के अलावा, 9-13 वर्ष की आयु के किशोरों के लिए भी एक संक्षिप्त और सरल व्यापक यौनिकता शिक्षा पाठ्यक्रम तैयार किया गया है, जिसका उद्देश्य यौनिकता से जुड़ी भ्रांतियों और सामाजिक कलंक को दूर करने के अलावा, आनंद को सकारात्मक नज़रिये से देखने के दृष्टिकोण पर आधारित और अधिकार-आधारित जानकारी उपलब्ध कराना है।
The toolkit consists of the CSE curriculum for adolescents aged 14 years and above; audio-visual resources and illustrated tools to be used during sessions.
इस टूलकिट में 14 वर्ष और उससे अधिक आयु के किशोरों के लिए व्यापक यौनिकता शिक्षा पाठ्यक्रम; सत्र के दौरान उपयोग किए जाने वाले ऑडियो-वीडियो संसाधन और टूल शामिल हैं।
The curriculum its current form has a total of 13 sessions on thematics of bodily changes during adolescence, different types of sexual identities, identity and power, gender, beauty standards, attraction and sex, healthy relationships and rejection, masculinities, effective communication, violence and consent, contraception, abortion and STI/RTIs. Rights and pleasure serve as the fulcrum of the curriculum and are present as cross-cutting themes of all the sessions. Each session is of the duration of 1.5 hours. The activities have been adapted as per COVID-19 physical distancing protocols and are interactive and engaging. Each session also incorporates key messages on impacts of COVID-19 in the lives of adolescents and young people. The pedagogy of the curriculum includes various games, role-plays and discussions around case studies through which it busts prevalent myths and misconceptions as well as build a feminist perspective of the participants. Audio and video resources on issues of gender and sexuality were also created to effectively deliver CSE.
The preface in the beginning acts as a guide on navigating the curriculum and lists the framework for the same. It details the framework of the curriculum and has links to all the sample documents one can use to design training sessions or meetings with external stakeholders such as teachers or guardians before implementation. There are also sample formats provided for consent forms that one should get signed before beginning the sessions with adolescents. Facilitators should go through the preface thoroughly as a preparation for the sessions.

In order to ensure effective and interactive delivery of key messages on issues of gender, sexuality and rights, TYPF has developed supporting audio-visual material for each session.
1. Internal and external sexual and reproductive organs: This video explains the internal and external sexual and reproductive organs in male and females. This can be used in session 2 and 12.
2. Bodily Processes: This video explains different sexual and reproductive processes such as ejaculation, menstruation, conception and addresses stigma attached to them. This can be used in session 3 and 12.
3. Myths around menstruation: This video tries to break the myths related to menstruation and give correct and comprehensive information around it. This can be used in session 3.
4. Intersex Variations Part-1: These videos discuss about intersex variations as one of the sexual identity and also delves into rights of people with intersex variations. This can be used in session 2.
5. Intersex Variations Part-2: These videos discuss about intersex variations as one of the sexual identity and also delves into rights of people with intersex variations. This can be used in session 2.
6. Gender: The video aims to highlight gender as a social construct and encourages them to question the binary of gender. This can be used in session 5.
7. What is Disability: This video helps build a comprehensive understanding around disability and busts misconceptions about persons with disabilities. This can be used in session 7.
8. Disability and Sexual & Reproductive Health and Rights: This video discusses sexual & reproductive health and rights of people with disability and highlights the discrimination faced by people with disability. This can be used in session 7.
9. Disability and Violence: This video discusses the various aspects of violence inflicted against people with disabilities. This can be used in session 11.

The curriculum also has a component of tools which are used to make the sessions engaging and promote comprehensive learning of adolescents on key issues. These tools can be printed as per the requirement. These are available in Hindi and English. Following are the details of the tools:
1. Decision Making Cards: These cards are used in the form of a fun game that helps young participants to explore their roles in making decisions on issues which directly impact their lives. To be used in session 1.
2. Body Outline: This tool helps to understand changes that occur in different parts of the body at the onset of puberty. To be used in session 2.
3. Flipbook: This is a tool which graphically details anatomy of male and female internal and external sexual and reproductive organs. Various processes such as ejaculation, ovulation, menstruation and conception are also explained. To be used in session 2, 3 and 12 as an alternative to the video resources.
4. Conception Cards and Board Game: This tool helps participants to recap what they have learnt about sexual and reproductive processes in a playful manner. This can be used in session 3.
5. Body Puzzle: This is an interesting puzzle through which participants are able to understand and reflect on beauty standards set by the society. This can be used in session 6.
6. Sexuality Dice: This is a dice with gender different identities which initiates a conversation around different sexual orientations and encourages participants to think about various relationships. This can be used in session 7.
7. Privilege Cards and Board: Taking real-life examples, this tool encourages participants to think about ‘power’, ‘respect’ and ‘status’ associated with an image of a ‘real man’. This can be used in session 10A.
8. Superman: This tool encourages participants about the pressure exerted by society to fit themselves in the narrow definition of ‘real man’. This can be used in session 10A.
9. Situation Cards: These cards use case studies to illustrate the ways in which violence is used as a response to deal with rejection. Often rejection to engage in sexual/romantic relationships seen as the loss of power or prestige and is associated with weaker image of a ‘real man’. This can be used in session 10A.
10. Effective Communication Handout: This handout helps the participants to understand strategies of communicating effectively with each other. This can be used in session 10B.
11. Contraceptive Trump Cards and Story Cards: The cards help to conduct an activity that builds participants’ understanding of different contraceptive methods. By stating benefits and risks of each contraceptive, it equips them with adequate information that enables them to make informed decisions while choosing contraceptives. This can be used in session 12.
12. Condom Handout: This poster provides information on correct ways to wear and remove a male condom. This can be used in session 12.
13. Abortion Handout: This tool covers all the important information related to abortion, such as different methods of abortion, abortion laws in India, etc. This can be used in session 12.
14. Symptom Cards: These cards help participants recognize common symptoms of RTIs and STIs through an activity that emphasizes visiting a doctor if any such symptoms are detected. This can be used in session 13.

शुरुआती प्रस्तावना पाठ्यक्रम की रूपरेखा, दृष्टिकोण और संरचना से परिचय कराती है। इसमें पाठ्यक्रम की रूपरेखा का विवरण दिया गया है और इसमें उन सभी दस्तावेजों के नमूनों के लिंक दिए गए हैं जिनका उपयोग प्रशिक्षण सत्र का स्वरूप तय करने या सत्र से पहले शिक्षकों या अभिभावकों जैसे बाहरी हितधारकों के साथ चर्चा करने के लिए किया जा सकता है। सत्र शुरू करने से पहले किशोरों की सहमति लेने के लिए सहमति पत्र के नमूने भी उपलब्ध कराए गए हैं। सत्र के लिए तैयार होने के लिए सहजकर्ताओं को प्रस्तावना को अच्छी तरह से पढ़ना चाहिए।

7. विकलांगता क्या है?: यह वीडियो विकलांगता के बारे में एक व्यापक समझ विकसित करने में मदद करती है और विकलांग व्यक्तियों के बारे में गलत धारणाओं को दूर करती है। इसका उपयोग सत्र 7 में किया जा सकता है।
8. विकलांगता और यौन और प्रजनन स्वास्थ्य और अधिकार: यह वीडियो विकलांग व्यक्तियों के यौन और प्रजनन स्वास्थ्य तथा उनके अधिकारों पर चर्चा करती है और उनके द्वारा अनुभव किए जाने वाले भेदभाव पर रोशनी डालती है। इसका उपयोग सत्र 7 में किया जा सकता है।
9. विकलांगता और हिंसा: इस वीडियो में विकलांग लोगों के खिलाफ की जाने वाली हिंसा के विभिन्न पहलुओं पर चर्चा की गई है। इसका उपयोग सत्र 11 में किया जा सकता है।

इन ऑडियो संसाधनों में उदाहरणों के अध्ययन के माध्यम से सत्ता, स्वस्थ और अस्वस्थ संबंधों, मर्दानगी, हिंसा और सहमति जैसे मुद्दों पर चर्चा की गई है और इनसे जुड़े महत्वपूर्ण संदेशों को प्रभावशाली तरीके से प्रतिभागियों तक पहुँचाने का प्रयास किया गया है। टूलकिट में निम्नलिखित ऑडियो कहानियाँ शामिल हैं:

4. बोर्ड खेल और कार्ड: प्रतिभागियों ने यौन और प्रजनन प्रक्रियाओं के बारे में जो कुछ भी सीखा है, उसे इस टूल के माध्यम से एक मजेदार तरीके से दोहराया जा सकता है। इसका उपयोग सत्र 3 में किया जा सकता है।
5. बॉडी पज़ल: यह एक दिलचस्प पहेली है जिसके माध्यम से प्रतिभागी समाज द्वारा तय किए गए सुंदरता के मानदंडों को समझ पाते हैं और उनपर विचार कर पाते हैं। इसका उपयोग सत्र 6 में किया जा सकता है।
6. यौनिकता वाले डाइस: यह अलग-अलग जेंडर पहचानों वाला एक पासा है जिसके ज़रिये विभिन्न यौन अभिविन्यासों के बारे में चर्चा की शुरुआत की जाती है और प्रतिभागियों को अलग-अलग तरह के संबंधों के बारे में सोचने के लिए प्रोत्साहित किया जाता है। इसका उपयोग सत्र 7 में किया जा सकता है।
7. सत्ता की चाल वाला बोर्ड और कार्ड: वास्तविक जीवन के उदाहरणों के ज़रिये, यह टूल प्रतिभागियों को एक ‘असली मर्द’ की छवि से जुड़ी ‘सत्ता’, ‘सम्मान’ और ‘प्रतिष्ठा’ के बारे में सोचने के लिए प्रोत्साहित करता है। इसका उपयोग सत्र 10ए में किया जा सकता है।
8. सुपरमैन: यह टूल प्रतिभागियों को ‘असली मर्द’ की संकीर्ण परिभाषा के अनुसार खुद को ढालने के लिए समाज द्वारा डाले गए दबाव के बारे में अवगत कराता है। इसका उपयोग सत्र 10ए में किया जा सकता है।
9. परिस्थिति कार्ड: ये कार्ड केस स्टडी के ज़रिये यह दर्शाते हैं किस तरह यौन/प्रेम संबंधों के प्रस्तावों के नामंज़ूर किए जाने को ‘असली मर्द’ की कमज़ोरी के रूप में और खोई ताकत और प्रतिष्ठा से जोड़ कर देखा जाता है, जिससे निपटने के लिए कई मामलों में हिंसा का सहारा भी लिया जाता है। इसका उपयोग सत्र 10ए में किया जा सकता है।
10. प्रभावी संवाद हैंडआउट: यह हैंडआउट प्रतिभागियों को एक दूसरे के साथ प्रभावी ढंग से संवाद करने की रणनीतियाँ सीखने में मदद करता है। इसका उपयोग सत्र 10बी में किया जा सकता है।
11. गर्भनिरोधक ट्रंप कार्ड और कहानी कार्ड: इन कार्ड की मदद से संचालित की जाने वाली गतिविधि के ज़रिये, प्रतिभागियों को विभिन्न गर्भनिरोधक तरीकों के बारे में समझाया जाता है। हर गर्भनिरोधक के लाभ और जोखिम की समझ के ज़रिये प्रतिभागियों को पर्याप्त जानकारी दी जाती है ताकि वे गर्भनिरोधक का चुनाव करते समय सूचित निर्णय ले सकें। इसका उपयोग सत्र 12 में किया जा सकता है।
12. कंडोम डेमो पोस्टर: यह पोस्टर मेल कंडोम को पहनने और हटाने के सही तरीकों के बारे में जानकारी देता है। इसका उपयोग सत्र 12 में किया जा सकता है।
13. गर्भसमापन हैंडआउट: इस हैंडआउट में गर्भसमापन से संबंधित सभी महत्वपूर्ण जानकारी शामिल है, जैसे कि गर्भसमापन के विभिन्न तरीके, भारत में गर्भसमापन संबंधी कानून आदि। इसका उपयोग सत्र 12 में किया जा सकता है।
