Policy Engagement – Officer

Sudipta is a Dalit queer feminist, with six years of experience working on key thematic of sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), queer rights, communications and advocacy. They are a trainer, writer, and advocate for SRHR for youth. As the Policy Engagement Officer at The YP Foundation, they work towards building parallels between regional, national, and international advocacy spaces to demand equitable, accessible, and quality SRHR services for young people and also anchoring SYAN(South East Asian Youth Health Action Network).

Sudipta started working in the development space as an India fellow’17 and extensively worked on-ground as a trainer to prevent sexual violence against children and their rehabilitation. They have been involved in creating advocacy campaigns, handbooks, curriculums, and other resource materials. Additionally, they have also been writing on key topics of caste, queerness, sexuality, and pop culture on multiple media platforms. They won the 2021 SCARF Media For Mental Health Award for excellence in reporting on mental health and also the awardee of MaveliNadu’s non-fiction grant 2022 for contributing to their publication on Debrahmanising Gender.
