Avali Khare

Avali is a young queer activist whose work focuses on engaging with young men and boys to create dialogues and actions that question norms of masculinities. In the past, they have worked with young queer activists to create online campaigns and collate writings foregrounding the intersections of young queer experiences, have drafted a report on contemporary work and programming on queer rights in India, and have contributed to reports to UN independent experts and special rapporteurs.

Avali has a master’s degree in gender studies from Ambedkar University Delhi, where their research work focussed on the embodiment of diverse masculinities by trans* and gender non-conforming persons. They also have a bachelor’s degree in English literature from Kirori Mal College, Delhi University. Avali has been the co-convenor of the student-led queer collective at AUD and the coordinator of the gender forum at KMC.
