Aathira Gopi

Aathira is a young Queer Bahujan activist. At TYPF, her work focuses on engaging with young men and boys to facilitate dialogue on masculinities and their constructions to recognize, reflect and reject oppressive gender norms. In the past, she has worked with higher educational institutions to address GBV and advance gender equity on campus.

Aathira has a master’s degree in Women’s Studies from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, where her research work focused on studying and decoding the intergenerational dialogue on marriage among mothers and young Malayalee women in Delhi. She also has a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Hindu College, Delhi University. Aathira is deeply passionate about conversations on queer homes, friendships, and singlehood studies and how it interacts with institutions of exclusion such as marriage, family, and the politics of motherhood.
