Background
The YP Foundation (TYPF) is a youth-run and youth-led organization that enables young people to create programmes and influence policies in the areas of gender, sexuality, health, education, the arts and governance. The organization promotes, protects and advances young people’s human rights by increasing their access to information and services, building feminist leadership, and strengthening youth-led initiatives and movements.

Founded in 2002, TYPF has since worked directly with 8,500 young people to set up multiple projects in India, reaching out to 750,000 children, adolescents and young people between 9-35 years of age. During this time period, the organization has developed expertise in 6 areas i.e. AYSRHR (Adolescent and Youth Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights), Life Skills, Masculinities, Gender Based violence and Feminist Leadership.

Over the years, TYPF has expanded horizons in reimagining social structures, dismantling normative beliefs and challenging stereotypical behaviors. TYPF strives to deeply and consistently invest in developing young people’s feminist leadership, amplify their voice and agency to challenge the status quo, and create platforms for them to represent themselves so that they will directly influence policy making.
With this background, we at The YP Foundation are looking for Director of Programmes and Partnerships This is an opportunity to lead high quality on ground programme delivery and impactful discourse building to advance the rights of young people especially those marginalised along different social axes of gender, sexuality, age, caste, religious minorities,class, ability etc. We understand that leadership journeys are different for everyone, therefore we encourage young leaders to consider applying if you feel the work speaks to you and what you have learnt so far. Key Responsibilities:

Programme management and leadership

  • Developing strategies and visioning effective and relevant programmes vis-à-vis on ground needs and leading a team of programme managers for delivery.
  • Ensuring regular and high quality due diligence and monitoring and evaluation of programmes.
  • Leveraging national and international opportunities for network building and partnerships across thematics and overall for the organisation.
  • Anchoring key research and scoping for programme development and design and overseeing programme delivery by providing consistent supervision and support to managers.
  • Co-lead vision and strategies for organisational growth and development along with staff members.

Policy Development and strategy

  • Writing and developing policy briefs, position papers, programme briefs, case studies and research papers to expand and visibility of TYPF’s work, and learning.
  • Represent TYPF in local, national and international platforms,to forge strategic networks and coalitions and expand membership and networks through the same.
  • Support in operationalisation of policy engagement initiatives across different thematics including stakeholder engagement and policy landscape.

Knowledge Management and Communications

  • Oversee knowledge management and public outreach across thematics to assess organizational effectiveness and strategic growth. Support in content production and knowledge products in alignment to representation of the organisation’s position and values.
  • Guide internal and external communication strategies to ensure coherent messaging and effective information dissemination within and outside the organization.
  • Develop the necessary systems, processes, and tools to better support the facilitation, collection, and sharing of knowledge that is generated through our work.

Team Development and Leadership

  • Provide strategic guidance and training to team members based on identified needs to strengthen programme management and implementation.
  • Establish and monitor team performance, goal setting, assign tasks and responsibilities and take up performance reviews and appraisals for team members.
  • Ensure cross functional collaboration across the organisation for learning and development.
  • Proactively work on strengthening the systems and processes within the organisation with the Executive Director and other staff members.

Fundraising and Organisation Representation

  • Identifying resource needs across programs and supporting the grant making processes of the organization.
  • Oversee Project finances and funder reports including finance as well as program implementation for smoother management.
  • Ensure visibility of programmes and sharing of knowledge and experiences across different partners, platforms, networks and coalitions.

What We’re Looking For

  • Masters degree in Social Sciences, preferably in an area of gender studies, education, public health and law and policy development.
  • A committed full time experience of 5-7 years of relevant work experience, including at least 4 years of leadership role in a development sector organization.
  • Experience in working with young people before, preferably in the area of health, gender, sexuality and human rights.
  • Demonstrated leadership in handling conflict situations, team expectations and collective aspirations.
  • Experience of leading programme designing and implementation and direct on-ground work including network building and organisation development and budget making in relevant work.
  • Demonstrated experience of developing and anchoring relationships with donors, external partners, government and intergovernmental spaces and other national and local civil society organisations. on issues of sexual and reproductive health and rights, gender justice, queer rights and feminist values.
  • Experienced in developing, writing, editing and planning policy briefs, statements, strategy papers
  • Experience of writing and editing external facing communication material for publication by diverse print and online media.
  • Ability to independently vision and manage finances for developing and implementing projects and programmes.
  • Excellent judgment and creative problem solving skills, including negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to recruit and lead a team to develop, manage and implement programmes for delivery of goals and objectives.
  • Co-lead organisational growth and development as a leader in the field with the intersectional leadership and other staff at TYPF.

Language and Technical Skills

  • Fluent in English with additional regional language/s
  • Skilled in working with Microsoft Office, G-Suite, Slack, Canva, and social media platforms

Salary Scale:

85,000-1,00,000 INR Per Month (CTC) based on experience, skills and organisational salary scales
