About The YP Foundation

The YP Foundation (TYPF) is a youth-led organisation that facilitates young people’s feminist and right-based leadership on issues of health equity, gender justice, sexuality rights, and social justice. TYPF ensures that young people have the information, capacity, and opportunities to inform and lead the development and implementation of programmes and policies that impact their lives and are recognised as skilled and aware leaders of social change.

About Know Your Body Know Your Rights (KYBKYR) Programme

The Know Your Body Know Your Rights (KYBKYR) programme aims to empower adolescents and young people by delivering stigma-free, rights-based and intersectional information on issues of health, sexuality and human rights. The programme builds young people and adolescents’ capacity to advocate for their health and well-being across  personal, community, state and national levels.

There is a serious dearth of Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) creating an information vacuum that leaves young people vulnerable to numerous challenges. These include, but are not limited to, violence, HIV transmission, abuse, misinformation, and gender inequality. It also impairs their ability to access resources for a healthier life and relationships. KYBKYR addresses these issues directly through its comprehensive CSE curriculum, providing young people with the necessary tools and knowledge to effectively negotiate with key stakeholders including family members, community leaders, and policymakers.

The programme employs a peer-led advocacy model to generate bottom-up demand for CSE in both school and non-school environments. This approach operates through three strategic engagements:

  • Training and capacitating youth-focused organizations to implement long-term Adolescent and Youth Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights (AY-SRHR) programming and advocacy
  • Implementing CSE curricula in a peer-led model, within the marginalized communities
  • Engaging with government policies and programs at local, state, and national levels to increase young people's access to SRHR services, information, and resources

About the KYBKYR Youth Leadership Programme

Adolescence marks a significant period of social, emotional, biological, and psychological transformation. However, many young people are unable to access accurate, rights-affirming, and pleasure-affirmative information regarding these changes due to pervasive stigma, misconceptions, and societal silence surrounding sexual and reproductive health, gender, and sexuality. However, many young people are unable to access accurate, rights-affirming, and pleasure-affirmative information regarding these changes due to pervasive stigma, misconceptions, and societal silence surrounding sexual and reproductive health, gender, and sexuality. Additionally, the lack of conversations around consent and rejection often makes it difficult for young people to navigate relationships in the longer run.
Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) is a tool which tries to bridge this gap and equip adolescents and young people with rights based information around their bodies, sexuality and gender. The programme implements a peer-education model to deliver CSE to young people and adolescents. This approach creates a safe and non-judgmental space for participants, enabling them to ask questions without hesitation or fear of being criticized. The Know Your Body Know Your Rights Programme is introducing a 6-month immersive youth leadership journey where selected young people will be trained on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) issues to implement the CSE curriculum.
