Abhra Singha Roy (he/they) combines their passion for visual storytelling with unwavering commitment to social justice by figuring out ways to tell nuanced socio-cultural realities and concepts in comprehensible and captivating ways. As a queer individual, they 'feel' their politics at a deeply personal level and let these feelings dictate how they engage with the world. They believe their politics shapes not only their work, but as the lens through which they view life itself. Abhra is drawn to all forms of visual media, with a particular love for cinema. For them the grammar of cinema and visual storytelling is found equally in a reel or a creative carousel or a full length feature film. Abhra is deeply curious about people and the rich, diverse stories they carry, and in pursuit of that they do yap a lot and love a yapper equally. Abhra has completed their BSc in Mass Communication from Xavier University Bhubaneswar, MA in Media and Cultural Studies from TISS, Mumbai and MPhil in Women's Studies from Jadavpur University, Kolkata. In this merit obsessed sadist world, degrees and skills aside, it is in holding space for the complex humans they call their friends, where they find the magic of life.
